Wolf Lake
Citizen of Egelston, because the Egelston Township Board of Trustees shares your concern for the protection of Wolf Lake the Board adopted the following resolution and it has been sent to everyone in the state of Michigan that is in a decision making position for the rerouting of the sixty six inch sewer main along Hall Road.
WHEREAS: Wolf Lake is an aesthetic jewel located in the center of Egelston Township: and Wolf Lake provides a multitude of recreational opportunities for not only Egelston Township
WHEREAS: Neither the county, the state, nor the private engineers retained to design the new Muskegon Wastewater System sewer line can reasonably guarantee that there will never be a sewer line malfunction leading to a release of raw sewage into Wolf Lake; and any contamination as the result of a sewer line malfunction would cause immediate and almost certainly irreparable harm to Wolf Lake and its wetlands, Alternate sewer line routes are available within which to locate the sewer line that would significantly reduce the risk to Wolf Lake and its wetlands in the event of a sewer line malfunction; and The costs of remediating the impact of even only one sewer malfunction could well exceed the additional costs that may be associated with locating the sewer line on a route which would significantly reduce the risk to Wolf Lake and it wetlands.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Egelston Township Board of Trustees requests that all the governmental agencies involved in the planning and approval of the sewer line extension take whatever reasonable actions are necessary to locate the sewer line on a route posing the least risk to Wolf Lake and its wetlands.
