Egelston Township COVID-19 Mitigation Measures

March 16, 2020

The number one priority of Egelston Township is the health and safety of our citizens and employees to ensure that we are able to provide in the coming weeks. With Governor Whitmer’s Emergency Declaration it has become imperative that we as local officials plan for the potential community transmission of COVID-19 and take the necessary precautions to protect our residents and employees in an attempt to slow the spread in other words flatten the curve.

Effective March 16, 2020 through April 5, 2020 Egelston Township is limiting certain operations and access in order to minimize the risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. The following operational changes will be in effect through April 5, 2020.

1. Egelston Township Hall will be closed to the public. All business that can be conducted via U.S. Mail, E-Mail, or the drop box should be done in such a manner. There is a drop box located outside the front entrance of the Township Hall; such business includes, but is not limited to, utility payments, absentee ballot applications, and building permits.

2. The Building Department will be available for inspections on all new construction projects. Arrangements can be made by calling the building department at 231-788-2308 ext. 13. Completed building permits may also be sent via email.

3. Fire Department will continue to respond on modified response to medical calls, responding only to all priority one medicals. The Fire Station is closed to the public. Routine or requested inspections of existing buildings and new construction inspections can be coordinated through the building department.

Egelston Township will make every effort to conduct our business as effectively and safely as possible in a non-person to person manner. Please be patient and understanding with us and each other, as we all work to navigate through this pandemic in the best way possible.

This notice is in effect as of March 16, 2020 and if further recommendations and requirements are issued by local, state, or federal health officials, further actions, updates and notices will be posted to the Township website, Fire Department’s social media page, and on the front entrances of the Township buildings.

For any further questions regarding operational changes please contact the Township Supervisor John Holter at 231-788-2308 ext. 11. Any healthcare related questions should be directed to the Muskegon County health Department at 231-724-6246
